There is currently no universal cure for endometriosis. Most treatment approaches aim to:

  • Suppress oestrogen activity

  • Reduce inflammation

  • Manage pain

  • Improve quality of life

If I'm living with endometriosis, what are my current options? They include:

  • Combined oral contraceptives

  • Progestin-only therapies

  • GnRH analogues (in selected cases)

  • Surgical excision by experienced specialists

Surgery can reduce pain in many women...but recurrence is possible.

Hormonal suppression can help symptoms...but doesn't "remove" disease. Research is ongoing in:

  • Immune-modulating therapies

  • Non-hormonal treatments

  • Earlier diagnostic tools

We are making progress but there is still a gap in early diagnosis, research funding, and individualised care.
